Hot Off The Press! The New Sea-Tac Ads
Posted by jess | Filed under Misc
Last August we did a multi day shoot at Seattle Tacoma International Airport for their new 2009 advertising campaign. Here are some fun samples of the ads from the Yvonne San Luis Design team, that will begin appearing in The Seattle Times, Sunset Magazine, Alaska Airlines in flight magazine and around the airport.
Brooklyn, Manhattan & The Berkshires….
Posted by jess | Filed under Misc, Travel
Just back in town from a quick getaway to the East Coast - we had a great shoot with Anna Bergman, went to some inspiring museums, ate great food and got to visit with firends. Along with some fun snaps from our trip I’m including some advice for anyone heading out that way.
Restaurants :
Westville in Manhattan’s West Village serves affordable, fantastic food in a cozy, hidden little spot. Try a selection of their “market sides” 4 for $13 - we had sweet potato fries, brusel sprouts in a honey dijon sauce, braised kale, and roasted beats with goat cheese. Pair it with a Malbec and you’ve got your own slice of foodie heaven!
Cafe Moto in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn is a super hidden spot (no sign out front, just the address) tucked under the J train. It was established in 1938 and still has that historic feel to it (complete with missing heat - wear something warm if dining in fall or winter). We sampled the “fonduta” and steamed mussels (both great) but the real winner of the night was the date cake - don’t leave without trying it!
Old Inn on the Green in the village of New Marlborough (up in the Berkshires of Massachusetts). If you’re in the area (likely for the amazing foliage in fall) this is a dining experience not to miss. This is your splurge night - and well worth it! We had the risotto and the sword fish (amongst a host of other small bites the chef sent out to our table) and it was all phenomenal!
Museums :
Be sure not to miss MASS MoCA if you are up in the Berkshires. It’s a beautiful drive from Great Barrington up to North Adams and the museum is an amazing space. One of the current installation exhibits, by Jenny Holzer, was our favorite.
If sticking to Manhattan I would highly recommend a trip to MoMA. There’s an interesting exhibit on the history of the photographic printing process, plus a sculpture exhibit of Picasso’s work and a newly opening exhibit of Joan Miro’s paintings.
Specialty Spots :
The Boom Boom Beauty Bar for all your waxing, beauty and pampering needs. Joe for coffee even Seattleites will approve of, and Baby Cakes for vegan cupcakes.
OK - and now for some photos!
Happy Halloween!

Need MAC computer help? Try Orchard Remote!
Posted by jess | Filed under Misc
I know this is unlike our usual blog entries - no photos! - but, this is important stuff. Our fabulous assistant, turned us on to a new MAC computer tech support. The outfit is called Orchard Remote, based here in Seattle, WA and run by two former “MAC Geniuses”. For $16 a month you can have unlimited phone support!
For all you skeptics out there that are thinking that you need somebody on site each time (or feel like you have to drag your computers into the Genius Bar at Bellevue Square just to get good support) this is a great solution.
The software these guys use allows them to log on to your computers remotely (with your permission and a unique pin code each time) and actually see what’s on your monitor, so you’re not stuck describing it. Even better they can take over and “drive” while you multi-task other projects.
Since we signed up in mid-September we’ve used them three times - each time requesting “Help Now” (vs. setting up an appointment for later that day) and received a call within minutes of our request. Each time our problems were solved within an hour - and we were off and running….
Check them out!

Wow - what an August! We had so many cool couples, great locations (The Woodmark Hotel, Kiana Lodge, Alderbrook Resort, The Canal, Willows Lodge, The World Trade Center, Shilshole Bay Beach Club, and The Washington Athletic Club), a few rainy moments, and overall a lot of fun. Here are some of the fun pics :

Who knew the airport could be so much fun!

We had our Sea-Tac Airport concessions shoot last week - and what a blast! Our all women crew zipped around the airport in our own motorized cart (courtesy of our fabulous driver and part time model Steph).
We met a bunch of interesting folks that work at spots all over the airport from Anthony’s to Waji’s, with all sorts of fun stuff in between. Check out some of the photos below.

Photographing one our favorite Seattle spots - Top Pot!
Posted by jess | Filed under Commercial, Misc
Last week we shot at one of our favorite places in town - Top Pot Doughnuts! We got to work again with one of our favorite designers, Christine Godlewski of Genius Creative for Top Pot’s new website (coming soon). Mark, the owner, was a blast to work with and even sent us home with a box of doughnuts to take to our next day’s photo shoot crew out at Sea-tac airport (more on that adventure later)…

Mendoza (Argentina); Wine Country & Marita Lavosier
Posted by cass | Filed under Fine Art, Misc, Portrait, Travel
Heres’ a cool story - we met an incredibly interesting woman who reminded us a bit of Georgia O’Keefe. Here name is Marita Lavosier and she’s an artist who is quite famous in that part of Argentina. We first noticed her work at a the little artist hotel we stayed at, Parador Del Angel. After seeing her paintings all over the valley, at Bodega Salentein and Zuccardi we finally, on our last day, asked the owner of our little boutique hotel about her. It turned out that Marita is his mother in law and we got a private tour of her studio. Long story short we did a photo shoot of her and her work that afternoon and got to keep one of our favorite pieces. An interesting shoot with my minimal Spanish skills and Marita’s minimal English. Here is some of the shoot…
